Rain is coming more regularly in the month of May. There are several activities on our projects both in the village as well as on the farm. At Chub village basecamp we almost completed the yurt construction. We got 4 accommodation rooms, one deity room, and a Kirtan hall. We got some land extension on the east where we can grow more vegetables, beans, and flowers. Our English school is on Holliday at the moment due to the rising up of the Covid-19 case in Cambodia, the Government closed all the school. We don’t know yet when the school will open again but we are thinking to start taking few boys as students for a short period of time of boarding school, in this way, there will be no anxiety of crowd-mixed and the study will be more intensive.
At the VCEC (Vedic Cultural Education Center) we are continuing to grow some more fruit trees, now we have 10 jackfruits, 20 mangoes, 30 bananas, and several types of flowers. The second kutir is in the process of building up a mud wall. The work has been pending for few weeks due to no workers, everyone goes to the field and no one is available for the kutir work.
At the farm (Yashodapura Eco Village) we just made up our agreement with some local families for the growing season this year. There are 5 families growing rice and 5 families growing cassava. The Ashram also prepares to grow rice on one plot about 2.500 m2 in size.
Last month (May 2021) we have harvested lots of mango from the land, we sent some of them to our Ashram and some for Prasadam distribution to the kids and neighbors around the village. Mother Bhumi is so merciful by giving us these mangoes, so we could offer fruits to Lord Jagannath every day. Apart from that, our cows also enjoying the mangoes which are falling from the trees.
We have 6 cows, recently we just have two newborns, one is a bull named Bala and another one is a calf named Kalindi. This time we are doing the renovations of Goshala, hopefully, that will finish at beginning of June. At the beginning of this rainy season, we preparing about 3 hectares of land for cow grazing.
The replica of 12 Vrindavan forests also continues. We started with the first forest, Badhravana, by cleaning up the busses under the trees and collecting dry grass for compos. This forest will be the place where we will be conducting Go Puja in every Purnima.
This month also we have to extend the fence around the grazing area to protect the crops. Krishna willing, step by step all things will be done on time.
In order to promote both projects at the village and the preaching center in Siem Reap town, we have created a YouTube channel “Yashodapura Tv” and also we are in the process of printing the new section of Angkor Bulletin in both Khmer and English. Everyone can remain updated on our activities by visiting our website www.iskconcambodia.com where we are posting regular articles, news, and pictures.
We are begging all the mercy of the devotees in order to remain a humble servant of Srila Prabhupada and keep going with our services in Cambodia. Thank you very much.
